Christianity has been in the news lately and most of it isn’t good. It seems like nearly everyone in the world is mad at the Christians who are doing X, Y, and Z. What irritates me is that while I know some people who are doing X, Y, and Z who call themselves Christians, I do not believe that X, Y, and Z are things Jesus would be doing. Yet others think Jesus would do X, Y, and Z. What we have hear is a failure to understand who Jesus is. We have in effect many Jesuses in Christianity.

Dr. Wayne Meeks in his recent book Christ Is the Question,¹ dares to ask the question that if Jesus is the Reason, which Jesus is the Reason? That thought inspired this message.

So many times on Christmas, we just read the story of Jesus’ birth and the story about the Angels, and the shepherds, and the wisemen, but we seldom stop to think about the true meaning of that narrative. I thought it was time we did just that and try to answer the question, “Which Jesus is the Reason?”
